Overview
The department of Engineering Technology is organizing a pre-college engineering program from June 14th through July 9th.
The program is sponsored by Texas Southern University and the United States Army Research Office (through UNITE).
The department has been selected as one of 9 sites nationwide to provide pre-college summer engineering program to 50 high school students annually.
Funding is from the Army Research Office (ARO) and it is in the amount of $50,000.00 yearly.

Program Goals

To ensure that at least 80% of participants (9-12 graders of inner city minority population) acquire the competencies in math, science required for high school completion and college entry.

To help increase the enrollment in engineering at the Texas Southern University through the instructional preparation and mentorship offered to participants, thus gearing them towards entry into engineering programs at the university.

To develop and maintain a partnership with UNITE-JETS and high school district partners for present and future collaborative endeavors.
