Welcome to the Department of Engineering Technology website.
I am pleased to have you visit our website. If you are a prospective student we invite you to explore the many exciting opportunities awaiting you in our undergraduate programs in civil engineering technology, computer engineering technology, and electronics engineering technology. Our goal is to provide an environment to which there are no limits to creativity and exploration.

Pre-college Summer Program
The department has been selected as one of 9 sites nationwide to
provide pre-college summer engineering program to 50 high school
students annually. Funding is from the Army Research Office
(ARO) and it is in the amount of $50,000.00 yearly.

the Army-funded UNITE program
The Department of Engineering Technologies of Texas Southern University, in collaboration with the Army-funded UNITE program, will host its seventh annual Summer Pre-College Engineering Program, beginning on June 24th and ending on July 19th. The program runs daily, Monday - Friday, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. The program seeks to provide academic instruction, hands-on activities, and college and career counseling mentorship to rising 9th-12th grade students - historically underserved and underrepresented in STEM areas - from middle and high schools within the Houston metropolitan area. Application deadline is May 31st 2013. Please see the application for more details.

ASCE Earth and Space 2010 Student Competition
Mr. Daniel Osakue and Mr. André Seals, students of Computer Engineering Technology program in Engineering Technology department, won the third prize of Undergraduate Active Vibration Control Competition. This activity was organized by ASCE Earth and Space 2010 conference which was held in Honolulu, Hawaii, from Mach 14 to March 17.Mr. Osakue and Mr. Seals were mentored by Dr. Xuemin Chen. Thanks to the National Science Foundation (NSF) grants which made the students trip possible.

Electronics Engineering Technology program has succeeded in receiving continued accreditation.
Microsoft Scholarship Recipient 2008
Microsoft Scholarship winner from Texas Southern University Elvino Taylor! Elvino is a Computer Engineering Technology major and is involved in many student organizations including IEEE, NSBE, NSPE, and SAE. He is also working at Texas Southern University providing administrative support to the Chair of the Engineering Technology Department. Congratulations to Elvino Taylor!

2012 Pre-College Summer Program
This program is designed to provide academic i nstruction, hands -on-activities, engineering concepts, and mentorship to rising 9-12th graders of the middle and high schools within Houston Metropolitan Area. The program encourages and helps prepare students to pursue a college education in engineering and relate d fields, as part of a national initiative to develop a talented and trained STEM workforce.
